Prior to becoming a father, I was living in Calgary and I had no goals to speak of, no sincere passions, no career and no purpose.   It was then that I received a phone call that would change my life, back to London I would go.

A dozen years ago I would enjoy strapping on the child carrier to my chest and go for longs walks, alone as a single dad to new baby boy.  The new emotions that my child brought out in me were numerous and very difficult to comprehend.   I was quite lonely and nervous but the joy that my boy brought me was unlike anything I had ever experienced.  I recall seeing other fathers with their children and often wondered if they had these same feelings; the joy, the pressure, the laughter, the struggle and a unconditional love unlike anything I could have dreamt of.

18 months later my daughter is born, and again I’m a single father.   It’s a shame there wasn’t some sort of Dad Club in my area in those days, it was a difficult time.

Fast forward to today, I’m currently the Logistics Manager for a Canadian distributor and also go to school part time working towards a professional designation in my field.   I live in NW London with my unbelievably supportive and amazing better half, Nicole.  I would not be the man I am today without her by my side.  Between the 2 of us we have 5 children, 13 and 12(boys), 10, 10 and 9(girls).  Each of them is so unique and extraordinary in their own ways.  Our modern family enjoys doing as many outdoor activities as possible (beach days, park days) and we love our family movie nights.  I’m incredibly blessed to have what I have and I continue to work hard each day to be the best version of me I can be so I can do the best I can for my family.  Oh, and I’m a huge basketball fan.

Dad Club London is an incredible resource for fathers, new fathers and fathers to be.   We are a group of engaged dads trying to create the best possible future for our children and make a positive impact in our community.   Whatever you need help with, we can most likely provide some direction.  Whatever you’re going through, we most likely have members that have been down that path. Whatever you enjoy doing, we most likely have events that you can join up and participate in.   If you want to make a difference with us, there are plenty of opportunities for your involvement.

The journey through fatherhood will differ for all of us based on various circumstances.  There is no one book outlining the steps, but there is however, your book to write.   I hope all of your kids will be proud to read your book one day.

I’m humbled to be a part of the director team at Dad Club London; you can reach out to me directly or contact any of the other amazing admins if you have questions or concerns.
